VEGAS MELTDOWN: CAESARS’ 90,000 UNSOLD ROOMS EXPOSE A TOURISM CRISIS NO ONE SAW COMING! Las Vegas is spiraling into chaos as Caesars quietly reveals a shocking 90,000 unsold hotel rooms, sending panic through the Strip and Wall Street. What was dismissed as a “temporary slowdown” has now erupted into a full-blown tourism collapse, with casinos slashing rates, canceling shows, and bracing for a brutal revenue hit. Industry insiders warn this could be the tipping point that shatters the Vegas economy — dragging resorts, investors, and thousands of jobs into the fallout. And behind the scenes? Executives admit the real cause is far more alarming than they’ve let the public see…. Full story in the comments — the hidden numbers will blow your mind.
One of Las Vegas’s largest casino and resort operators said that 90,000 hotel rooms went unbooked across its eight strip properties throughout Sin City’s summer tourism lull.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — There’s no denying that the Las Vegas tourism lull is hitting resort companies hard, and Caesars Entertainment said the price they paid through the end of summer was about 90,000 empty hotel rooms.
Hotel rates were down about 6% and occupancy was about 5% lower, according to Tom Reeg, chief executive officer for Caesars, which operates nine resorts on the Strip. But Reeg said three months ago it would be a soft summer, and he’s just as certain that Las Vegas is headed for recovery by the end of 2025 to set up a big year in 2026.
And the discussion about whether Las Vegas is a good deal isn’t over. Caesars Entertainment properties participated in a “Fabulous 5-Day Sale” (Sept. 22-26) that the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) whipped up in response to pricing on the Strip.
4 things casinos have seen during the Las Vegas tourism downturn
“Our bookings picked up considerably, so it was effective, and we know that LVCVA intends this to be an ongoing campaign. So you should expect this to be not one-shot in terms of the messaging around value in Las Vegas.” Reeg doubled down on comments in July that Las Vegas remains fundamentally solid, pointing to the variety of room and entertainment options for tourists.
“This is still a very strong market. It offers something for every price point,” Reeg said.
He thinks the focus on a high-priced bottle of water is just about at its end.
Most days that you read those stories, you could have gotten a room in Vegas for 29 bucks plus the resort fee on the Strip, Reeg said.
Air travel lags as summer ends, with Las Vegas passenger levels behind last year’s pace
“You can come see Paul McCartney and pay $500-plus a ticket the same weekend that you can see Donny Osmond for 60 bucks. So there’s something at every price point,” he said.
Net revenues in the third quarter were $952 million for the Las Vegas segment of Caesars Entertainment, down 10.3% from $1.06 billion in 2024. Consolidated revenues for all of the company were $2.87 billion, just $5 million less than the third quarter of 2024.
On top of the problem of filling rooms in Las Vegas, gamblers did some damage to the company’s bottom line. Earnings were down about 12% compared to the third quarter of 2024.
