Brooklyn Beckham Has Responded To ‘Nepo Baby’ Claims As Family Feud Escalates
Beckham has already addressed ‘nepo baby’ suggestions.
Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, has previously addressed the “nepo baby” label following criticism regarding his fame and privilege.
The 26-year-old, who announced on Monday that he does not want to “reconcile” with his family, is known for having tried his hand at several different careers, including art photography, modelling and cooking.
He has also launched a number of ventures over the years, including Cloud 23, a premium hot sauce linked to his dad’s iconic shirt number, as well as a Japanese-inspired alcoholic drink brand, WESAKE.
Naturally, this ever-growing portfolio has come under criticism, with some suggesting his success is down to being a nepo baby, a term for someone who benefits from their parents’ celebrity status and wealth.
Speaking to Grazia magazine back in 2024, Brooklyn was asked whether he understands why the wider public can feel irked about nepo babies in general.
“Obviously I am one. But I couldn’t help how I was born, at all,” he said. “There’s always going to be people that say rubbish. But as long as you do something that makes you happy and you’re kind to people, that’s all that matters.”
Beckham added: “I’m always gonna get it, no matter what I do. And I’m fine with that. It makes me work harder, because I’m like, I’m gonna prove these people wrong.”
Brooklyn has addressed nepotism on numerous occasions in the past. Speaking to InStyle in 2024, he mentioned his parents as he opened up on the claims.
“I mean, I can’t help how I was born,” he said. “I couldn’t ask for better parents and I’m just trying to work my ass off and trying to make a name for myself. That’s all I can say, really.”

Victoria Beckham made a “nepo baby” claim about her children just months before eldest son Brooklyn made a series of chocking claims about the family.
Brooklyn, aged 26, has been estranged from the rest of his family for a considerable period and on Monday, he took to Instagram to break his silence on the feud.
In a lengthy post, the aspiring chef said had been born into a life of “performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships”.

Among many accusations levelled, he claimed that he grew up with “overwhelming anxiety being “controlled by my parents for most of my life” and that his worries have disappeared since isolating himself from David and Victoria.

The term ‘nepo baby’ – which means taking advantage of a family’s wealth and status for success – has been used to describe the Beckham children given they were born into one of the richest and most successful families in the world.

In October, a reporter from The Sun, interviewed Spice Girl Victoria and said that her youngest son Cruz was “not a traditional nepo-baby” as he was making waves as a musician.
In response, the 51-year-old defended her children being nepo babies and urged people to “give them a chance”.
“I mean, I feel sorry for these kids that are considered nepo babies,” she stated.

“The kids are simply the kids of their parents. It’s not their fault. Give them a chance.”
She added: “What matters is that people are good and kind.
“It’s fine to be ambitious, but it is more important to be kind. Let the music speak for itself before you judge.”

In his younger days, Brooklyn had spells with photography and modelling and also had a period in Arsenal’s academy. He also earned £2.68 an hour working at a coffee shop when he was 15.
Speaking to Grazia magazine back in 2024, Brooklyn addressed being a nepo baby and accepted his position by saying he was “fine” with it and that “it makes me work harder, because I’m like, I’m gonna prove these people wrong”.

In a chat with InStyle where he again discussed the topic, Brooklyn said he “couldn’t ask for better parents” when it came to supporting him and urging him to prove them wrong.
However, fast forward to the present day and Brooklyn’s attitude towards his mum and dad has shifted massively.
He claimed that his wife has been “consistently disrespected” and that his family “values public promotion and endorsements above all else”.
Stressing that “Brand Beckham comes first”, he added that he does “not want to reconcile with my family” and was “standing up for myself for the first time in my life”.
The Beckhams are yet to official respond to the explosive statement.

At the time, Brooklyn said his parents always encouraged him to ignore the outside noise. “It makes me… I kind of like it, in a way, just because it makes me really want to prove to people,” he continued.
“Until two years ago, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I think with all the rubbish I get, my mum’s just like, ‘Prove them wrong. Never respond to that rubbish, just prove them wrong’.
Brooklyn added: “I think what I wanted for so long – especially the last few years – is I really wanted to make a name for myself.”
