Moment Meghan Markle ‘Floated’ Down the Aisle Goes Viral
A moment from Meghan Markle’s wedding day has gone viral on social media as she and Prince Harry celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary earlier this month. The couple, who met in the summer of 2016, announced their engagement in the fall of the following year, and the two were married at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
The royal wedding—a highly anticipated event in the U.K., U.S. and Commonwealth—drew a reported global audience of almost 2 billion. Now, many are revisiting a moment from the royal nuptials after TikTok user @europeanroyals_ uploaded footage of Meghan and Harry walking down the aisle after exchanging vows.
The video has received more than 100,000 views, with many commenters praising the couple. One user wrote: “She floated down that aisle. Love her.”
“Beautiful couple,” another added, while another commenter wrote, “Perfect wedding.”
The wedding did not pass without setbacks. For instance, Thomas Markle, Meghan’s father—who made headlines by cooperating in a paparazzi photo shoot before the big day—was absent after suffering health issues that prevented him from traveling to Britain to walk his daughter down the aisle.
During the ceremony, Meghan walked half the length of the chapel aisle solo before being met by her future father-in-law, King Charles III—then the Prince of Wales—who escorted her the rest of th
The bride’s appearance on the day was widely praised. She wore an ivory silk wedding gown designed for her at Givenchy, a haute couture house in Paris, by the British designer Clare Waight Keller.
Meghan paired the dress with a cathedral-length veil embroidered with the floral emblems of the Commonwealth nations and the California poppy, a reference to her home state.
As the bride and groom left the service, Symphony No. 1 in B-flat by William Boyce, an 18th-century composer, played. For years, Boyce was an organist at St. George’s Chapel and composed the music for the coronation of Prince Harry’s ancestors, King George III and Queen Charlotte, in 1761.
Since their marriage, both Harry and Meghan have discussed their wedding day in interviews.
