News Now : Chiefs’ Rashee Rice was thoroughly “investigated” by US Government before letting him enter White House
knows about the problems Rashee Rice has put himself in this offseason. The Kansas City Chiefs have had a PR nightmare on their hands as they’ve seen their burgeoning young star wide receiver become embroidered in legal issues.
But the team is sticking by him. So much so that he accompanied the team for its White House visit last week despite being in the middle of legal proceedings. But it wasn’t that simple.
Why Rashee Rice was allowed to visit White House with Chiefs
According to the U.S. Secret Service Chief of Communications, Anthony Guglielmi, Rice was vetted thoroughly before being allowed to appear before President Joe Biden.
Individuals who visit the White House for official meetings are invited by appropriate staff. The Secret Service works to ensure that all individuals entering the complex do not pose a threat or safety risk. In this instance, we were aware of the background of the guest and he was permitted to enter because he was included on the formal invitation by the White House.
Of course, essentially everyone that visits the White House and the President gets properly checked by government staff. But Rice’s case is slightly different given his background and his recent troubles.
Thankfully for Rice, he was able to attend with this teammates in what for many would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. One or two more off-the-field incidents and he may never get the chance again.
