Alexis Ohanian Says The Investment He and Serena Williams Invested on Their Daughters now made them Now Multi-Millionaires Thanks To A $250K Investment From A Trust
A wise investment made by Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian has greatly benefitted their daughters.
As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the couple has been very intentional about investing in their children’s futures. When their first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., was 2 years old, she made headlines as the youngest owner of a professional sports team when she was listed alongside her parents as an investor in Angel City, the National Women’s Soccer League team based in Los Angeles, CA.
“As someone who spends hours kicking around a football with my two-year-old daughter, I want her to have a front-row seat to this revolution,” Alexis Ohanian said at the time. “I’m personally investing on behalf of my family because creating more opportunities in women’s sports is important to my wife and me, and we want to be a part of making a better future for our daughter
In August 2023, the couple welcomed the birth of their second child and daughter, Adira River Ohanian, Today reported.
Not long after entering the world, Adira became a team owner and was less than 1 year old. As previously reported by AFROTECH™, she joined her sister as an investor in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s tech-infused golf league, TGL, and they were also united as investors in Angel City. As a result, Adira became the youngest owner of two professional sports teams.
Ohanian explained on “The Twenty Minute VC (20VC),” a podcast hosted by Harry Stebbings, that these strides were made possible through a trust. As a result, Olympia and Adira are already multi-millionaires.
“The smartest thing I did was I asked our LPac. I said, ‘Listen, I believe it’s going to help this deal a lot if I can invest $250,000 personally via a trust for my daughters because of the storytelling around (at the time), ‘Serena and Alexis’ daughter is the youngest owner in pro sports,’” Ohanian said on the podcast. “That’s gonna be valuable for helping us tell the story… It’s good marketing.”
He continued, “So the good news is I set that up. It’s not just for Olympia but all of our future kids… And they’re now actually, because of this latest round, they’re literally multi-millionaires because of that one investment four years ago. So there’s a part of that that makes me feel really good, which was like, ‘Hey, I saw something early.’ Obviously, my kids are gonna be fine. But I’m in the point of my life where I’m in the legacy-building mode, and the two people who I care the most about are these little kids. So that feels good.”
