Amy Adams Jaw-Dropping Admission: ‘Jenna Ortega’ Taught Me More Than I Ever Knew

Adams will star opposite Ortega in the film adaptation of the novel ‘Klara And The Sun’

Amy Adams has praised Jenna Ortega, saying that she learns more from working with younger actors than someone like Ortega “could ever learn from me”.

Adams is set to appear opposite Ortega in the forthcoming film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel Klara and the Sun, which has Taika Wahiti attached to direct. Her most recent film role has come in the form of a stay-at-home mum known only as Mother in the horror-comedy Nightbitch.

“I learn so much from the young women that I work with,” Adams told Variety in a new interview. “I feel like I learn more from them than they could ever learn from me.” She laughs. “I do forget that I’m not their age sometimes. I’m like, ‘Amy, you’re 50. You’re not gonna hang!’”

Nonetheless, she believes that getting older has benefits in both her career and life in general. “It gets so much better,” she said. “But there are things I miss: my joints working, collagen, things like that.”

In a three-star review of Nightbitch, NME wrote: “There are some strikingly strange moments, particularly when Mother lets her canine tendencies peek out in public. And her character arc certainly plays out in a way that feels real and well-meaning, even when Heller’s insights about self-esteem and female resilience lack freshness. Along the way, her screenplay aims the odd soft blow at Mother’s pretentious artist friends without ever threatening to draw blood. For a film called Nightbitch, it lacks the bark and bite necessary to become top dog.”
