In a somber moment for the nation, former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. has tragically passed away at the age of 82. The news was confirmed early this morning by the Biden family in a heartfelt statement from their Wilmington, Delaware home.
“Surrounded by family, love, and prayers, our beloved Joe passed peacefully in his sleep,” the statement read. “He was a father, husband, grandfather, and public servant who dedicated his life to the soul of this nation.”
Biden, the 46th President of the United States, served from 2021 to 2025 and is remembered for his calls for unity and healing after a tumultuous political era. His presidency was marked by a focus on pandemic recovery, climate policy, and restoring diplomatic ties across the globe.
World leaders, including President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama, expressed deep sorrow. “Joe Biden was a bridge between generations, and a true patriot who never stopped believing in the American people,” said Obama. “I’ve lost a brother.”
