Glenn Close Defends Kim Kardashian Amid All’s Fair Criticism
Glenn Close defended All’s Fair and lead actress Kim Kardashian as the Ryan Murphy-created earned negative reviews following its release.
After the Kim Kardashian-led new series All’s Fair earned some negative reviews following its Nov. 4 premiere, Glenn defended her costar and the legal drama.
“I swear to God, I’ve seen all nine episodes and it’s pretty f–king good,” she told The Guardian in a recent interview. “It is what it is: it’s juicy and outrageous at times and touching.”
Although Kim—who stars as attorney Allura Grant alongside Naomi Watts and Niecy Nash—doesn’t have an extensive acting background, Glenn isn’t concerned about her resume.
As the 78-year-old added, “She surrounded herself with really good people.”
And it’s been especially fun to work alongside the Kardashians star—who shares children North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5, with ex-husband Kanye “Ye” West—for the Hulu original.
“She’s lovely,” Glenn gushed. “And very smart. Very, very conscientious with her kids. When we were filming, she was going through working towards her law degree, and near the end, she would have flashcards.”
“She now has her law degree,” she continued, “and I asked her: Are you going to practice? And she said: No, I just want it in my back pocket.”
The negative reviews about the Ryan Murphy-created series haven’t phased Kim either, who shared her own cheeky response to the less-than-desirable reactions.
“Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?!?” the 45-year-old teased on Instagram Nov. 6.”All’s Fair streaming now on @hulu and @disneyplus.”
Along with Glenn and Kim, those working behind the scenes also defended the series, including director Anthony Hemingway.
You’re not going to please everybody,” he told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month. “You may have certain criticisms, while there are a million others who love it. I think the show holds a mirror up to each person who watches it. It’s just about: Can you connect to it or relate to it, and see yourself?”
He added, “It may be out of your league, it may not be anything you can connect to, and I think that goes for anything that gets presented on screen.”
While the case is closed on Glenn’s thoughts on All’s Fair, keep reading to make up your own mind when it comes to these upcoming TV shows.
