Jennifer Lopez is hoping to get some extra time in with Ben Affleck’s kids before they head back to school, a source tells PEOPLE.
The singer, 55, “wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes and Violet is off to college,” says the source. Affleck and ex-wife Jennifer Garner share Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, while Lopez has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
“Just because she’s not with Ben, doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about his kids. She always cared about them,” adds the insider. “She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year.”
The source notes that the Hustlers actress stopped by Affleck’s rental home in Brentwood on Sunday, Aug. 11, while he was there. Earlier in the day, she brought his son Samuel to the mall.
A source previously told PEOPLE on Aug. 6 that Lopez and Affleck hadn’t seen each other “in weeks.” Added that source, “They’re moving on separately. Jennifer is trying to find a new home to start fresh.”
The couple has spent most of the summer apart as Lopez has been vacationing in both Europe and the Hamptons, New York while Ben was filming his upcoming sequel The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles.
Last month, the couple were on separate coasts for both their two-year anniversary and Lopez’s birthday
During Lopez’s stay in the Hamptons, Violet was seen spending time with her stepmother. In photos captured on July 14, the duo walked with their arms around each other as they appeared to enter 75 Main restaurant joined by Violet’s best friend, actress Cassidey Fralin.
On Friday, Aug. 9, Violet stepped out in what looks to be the same Dolce & Gabbana dress that Lopez once wore for a date night with Ben, 51.
Violet was spotted out and about in Brentwood, Calif. wearing the pink-and-white chiffon gown with long sleeves, romantic pleating and a wrap neckline. Lopez had previously worn the dress for a 2023 Valentine’s Day date night with husband Ben.
A source told PEOPLE at the time that Lopez and Violet “really enjoy each other’s company.”
“They both seem so happy to be spending this time together, and are just enjoying the moment,” said the insider.
On Aug. 9, a source told PEOPLE that Ben was “doing well.”
“He thrives when he’s busy and he’s been working nonstop,” the source said. “The kids are still off from school. He spends a lot of time with them, too.”
