another prison inmate tried to slash his throat with a makeshift blade
Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing renewed concerns about his safety after a reported incident inside his prison cell that nearly turned deadly. According to his close friend Charlucci Finney, the rapper and producer awoke to find a makeshift knife at his throat, in what Finney described as a threatening act by another inmate.
The Grammy-winning artist, 55, has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024. He was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

A violent threat during the night
Finney told the Daily Mail, “He woke up with a knife to his throat. I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened.” He added, “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.”
Finney believes the act was meant to intimidate rather than kill: “It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”
Diddy’s legal team, including high-profile attorney Mark Geragos, had previously raised alarms about the dangers the star faces behind bars. They cited poor conditions and threats of sexual assault while asking that he be transferred to FCI Fort Dix, a lower-security prison in New Jersey.

Legal efforts to move Diddy continue
During Diddy’s trial, his attorney Brian Steel described a separate incident in which an inmate tried to reach the rapper with a shiv, allegedly to gain “prestige” due to Combs’ celebrity status. Finney said these events have caused sleepless nights for those close to the music mogul, especially as inmates often seek what they call “prison justice” against those accused of sexual crimes.
“Sean has kept a lot of this stuff to himself because he doesn’t want to worry his family,” Finney said. “But if you’re in jail and you’ve been charged with anything sexual, it’s not a good place to be.”
Finney also spoke about Combs’ past drug use, saying it contributed to his current situation. “All this stuff that came out, the drugs and the abuse, I wasn’t privy to that. Neither were his children. Around us, Sean was a lovable caregiver, a father, brother, a best friend.”
Appeal underway and pardon rumors swirl
Combs’ lawyers filed a notice of appeal on Monday and plan to challenge both his conviction and sentencing. Meanwhile, TMZ reported that former President Donald Trump was “vacillating on a commutation,” though the White House denied it.
Trump himself told Newsmax, “I would say so,” when asked if he would deny Diddy a pardon. He added that while he had once “got along with him great,” Diddy became “very hostile” during his presidential run.
For now, Combs remains incarcerated, and his team continues fighting for his safety and his freedom.
