patrick Mahomes’ career has been on a constant rise. Since his high school days at Whitehouse High School, Mahomes already showed signs of his undeniable talent and is considered one of the best quarterbacks to have come out of Texas, but Johnny Manziel believes that there was someone much better.
Manziel has become a byword for rebirth, his rapid rise and dizzying fall at the turn of the century in the NFL making him a survivor. In addition, he studied at Tivy High School, in Kerrville, Texas, so he knows what he is talking about.
In a recent chat on “The Shay Shay Club” podcast, host Shannon Sharpe asked, “What are they drinking in Texas?” to produce many of the best quarterbacks to ever come to the NFL, including Patrick Mahomes.
In this regard, Manziel responded that football in Texas is a way of life, and most kids start at a very young age in children’s leagues. The panorama of this sport in the state has been growing, and that has helped the development of great players, said the former quarterback.
he Kansas City Chiefs quarterback had an outstanding high school football career. In his two years on the Whitehouse Varsity team, Mahomes accumulated 8,458 yards and completed 524 passes in 913 attempts, with 96 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Despite this, Manziel remembered that there was someone even better than Mahomes. “If you know anything about Texas High School football, I would say Kyler Murray’s resume and what he did makes him hands down the best Texas high school football player to ever play.”
He recalled that Murray only lost one game in his entire college career. In high school, Murray won all 42 games as a starter at Allen High School. He completed 485 passes on 758 attempts for 8,348 yards, 100 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.
