Serena Williams Deletes Heavily Photoshopped Image Following Backlash
Serena Williams faced backlash earlier this week when she shared a photo taken from People magazine’s Most Beautiful Women of 2016 spread that had obviously been retouched
The photo of the gorgeous tennis star came under fire due to Serena’s heavily slimmed down waist, with the bar behind her looking incredibly warped due to the photo-editing.
Serena’s 3.1million followers were quick to comment their thoughts on the photo, with many slamming the star for posting it and writing: “I LOVE what you stand for and wish others would quit trying to alter your message and genetics!”
“I love her but the bar behind her waist is so warped. Disappointing.”
After hundreds of negative comments Serena was forced to remove the offending image, but she quickly replaced it with the un-retouched photo from her People shoot.
The star didn’t reference the backlash in her caption but won praise from her fans, who commented: “So much better and stronger without the retouching.”
“This makes you look even more beautiful and powerful.”
“Thank you for posting the unphotoshopped picture. You work hard and you are beautiful the way you are.”
Serena also found herself at the centre of a photoshop row last year, with her fans slamming Sports Illustrated for making her thighs look slimmer.
