“I’M NOT A RAPIST. I’M NOT A PEDOPHILE.”: Norah O’Donnell pressed Donald Trump on 60 Minutes about the suspected shooter’s manifesto following the White House Correspondents’ Dinner incident—and the exchange quickly escalated.
O’Donnell read directly from the manifesto: “I’m no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” She then asked Trump for his reaction.
Trump immediately lashed out: “I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody. I’m not a pedophile. Excuse me. You read that crap from a sick person. I was totally exonerated. You should be ashamed of yourself, reading that. You’re a disgrace.”
The suspect was apprehended before reaching the event. But instead of addressing the violent rhetoric or the gravity of the situation, Trump turned his anger toward the journalist asking the question.
