“My Suit Has Grown Watercress!” King Charles Cracks Joke With Idris Elba in Antigua After Being Drenched in Torrential Rain 😂🌧️
King Charles III has given royal watchers another memorable moment after turning an unexpected tropical downpour into a laughing matter during his Caribbean visit, with actor Sir Idris Elba also sharing a light-hearted exchange with the monarch.
The King, who was attending celebrations marking Antigua and Barbuda’s 45th anniversary of independence, found himself caught in torrential rain at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium. While Queen Camilla was quickly handed an umbrella, Charles was left exposed to the heavy downpour, gesturing toward members of his entourage as he appeared to ask for protection from the rain.
The soaking monarch eventually received an umbrella, but it was his sense of humour afterward that captured attention.
“I think I’m about to grow watercress on my suit,” Charles joked, laughing off the rather uncomfortable royal moment.
The remark quickly became a talking point, with royal observers amused by the King’s ability to find humour in an otherwise soggy situation.
