Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes Arrive at the Academy Museum Gala, Ditching NFL and Chiefs Protocol Ahead of Chargers Game to Cheer on Taylor Swift
LOS ANGELES — In an unprecedented breach of team curfew and standard game-week protocol, Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes turned heads on Saturday evening by making a surprise appearance on the red carpet at the 6th Annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles.
The NFL duo set aside their typical pre-game focus just hours before their high-stakes matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers to support global music icon Taylor Swift, who took the stage as the marquee musical performer of the night.
A Glamorous Night Ditching Football Rules
The Academy Museum Gala, presented by Rolex, is widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s most prestigious starry evenings. While the event drew heavy hitters across film and television—including gala co-chairs Steven Spielberg and Tom Ford, alongside honorees Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo, and John Carpenter—it was the unexpected appearance of Kansas City’s star quarterback and tight end that had cameras flashing and fans buzzing.
Ditching team travel sweats for bespoke tailored tuxedos, Kelce and Mahomes joined the star-studded crowd at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Sources near the venue noted that the two stars arranged private transport into Los Angeles specifically to attend the gala, briefly stepping away from strict team travel regulations ahead of Sunday’s division clash against the Chargers.
Cheering On Swift’s Headlining Performance
Swift was announced as the gala’s headline performer earlier this month by Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma. Delivering an intimate set to close out the fundraising evening, Swift dazzled attendees in a custom Dior ensemble alongside diamond jewelry from Chopard.
From a VIP vantage point inside the museum’s David Geffen Theater, Kelce and Mahomes were spotted cheering on the superstar as she delivered a captivating performance.
