Upscale sports bar known for Chiefs watch parties opens new location at…See new location here…
The first sports bar has opened at Kansas City’s riverfront development, Current Landing. Revel, created by Shawn Lawson and Danney Elmore, opened the upscale sports bar Saturday. It sits in the outdoor plaza just opposite to the entry to CPKC Stadium, home of the KC Current.
“We wanted to create a space that feels elevated and design-forward, but still incredibly comfortable and social,” Elmore said in a release earlier this year. The interior features wood, leather finishes, moody tones, marble countertops and sports murals line the walls. A Patrick Mahomes statue standing over a Buffalo Bills helmet sits at the entryway. Large TVs are everywhere for customers to comfortably watch games no matter where they sit. There are also a couple coin-operated games like basketball and darts.
The addition of Revel at Current Landing strengthens the district’s identity as a destination,” Josh Goldman, managing director at Palmer Square Real Estate, said a release. “It’s a social anchor—bringing together sophisticated hospitality, the energy of sport, and the rhythm of the riverfront into one cohesive experience.”
Revel had an invite-only soft opening Thursday, which Elmore said went really well. Just over 300 people showed up. It opened to the public on Saturday. “We’re just happy to be down there at the Current Landing in the new entertainment district, and can’t wait to see what comes from it. And we’d love to have everybody out for a drink and some food,” he said. Revel has several beers on tap, bottles and cans and features several KC Current inspired drinks like Current Landing cherry limeade (Deep Eddy Lemon vodka, Deep Eddy Lime vodka) and the KC undercut shot (Skyy Raspberry vodka, blue curaçao, sour, black raspberry liqueur.) The bar and pub has a wide food selection of appetizers, burgers, salads, flatbreads, sandwiches, bowls and mains. The menu is similar to the original location at 7300 W 119th St. in Overland Park, with some omissions of some pastas, different burgers and a few more upscale appetizers.
Starters include revel rolls (flour tortillas stuffed with shredded cheese, steak, sautéed peppers and mushrooms and served with queso; $14), grand slam dip (choice of 6oz buffalo chicken or artichoke dip, served with hot tortilla chips; $14) and ahi tuna tower (fresh tuna, pico, avocado, diced cucumber, cilantro, edamame, micro greens. Served with fried wonton strips and teriyaki drizzle; $18).
All burgers are served with a side of fries or tots. Options include the burnt end burger (beef patty, pepper jack cheese, chopped burnt ends, onion ring, pickles, bbq sauce; $16) and the BP&J burger (patty, bacon, sauteed onion, peanut butter and berry jelly; $15).
Other items on the menu include cheesy crab rangoon garlic bread (house made crab rangoon filling, garlic butter and chives over a flatbread; $14), KC hot bird sandwich (house made Nashville brown sugar hot sauce, fried chicken, lettuce, pickles, onions on brioche bun and fries; $14) and Smack N Cheese (burnt ends over house made mac and cheese with Texas garlic toast; $15).
Opening as the first establishment in the area has had its perks and drawbacks, according to Elmore. The development timeline was pushed back, and a lawsuit Revel filed against its general contractor halted work for three weeks and allowed them to share wisdom with the other businesses coming in.

So it kind of gives us a level of camaraderie with the people coming in to where I don’t think we would get right off the bat.” Revel plans to be the focal point for watch parties, feature live music and sports-related events. Current Landing, a new entertainment district by the waterfront is also expecting establishments like Providence Pizza and an Italian restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Nicholas Sefanelli to open soon. Revel plans to have a grand opening celebration Oct. 25 and are currently advertising Chiefs watch parties, which they are known for in Overland Park.
