Whoopi Goldberg brags about huge ‘The View’ salary: ‘You would be shocked’
Whoopi Goldberg, the longtime co-host/moderator of ABC’s The View, recently said on Keke Palmer’s Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast that her paycheck is so large that people “would be shocked” if they saw it.
When Palmer asked what her favorite part of the show is, Goldberg replied, “The check. I love the check.” Palmer said she could “only imagine” the amount; Goldberg responded: “No, no, you can’t. Trust me. You can’t. You would be shocked… As soon as they showed you that check, you’d be like, ‘What the!?’”
She has moderated the daytime talk show since 2007, after Barbara Walters offered her the role when another co-host left and Goldberg needed work. She described herself as “crazy-glued to that chair” and emphasized gratitude for the steady job in a tough industry, noting many people lack employment. She also said The View is not her highest-paying gig ever and that she remains open to other opportunities.
Goldberg did not disclose an exact figure. Reports and estimates over the years have put her annual salary in the mid-seven figures (commonly cited around $6 million, with some sources higher, in the $6–8 million range). She is generally described as the highest-paid among the co-hosts. Recent reporting noted that several View hosts, including Goldberg, took pay cuts starting with Season 29 in September 2025, though she remained the top earner.
The comments come from the August 4, 2026, episode of Palmer’s podcast and were widely covered by outlets including Entertainment Weekly, Page Six, People, Mediaite, and The Wrap.
